State programs providing assistance with medical expenses
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE (MA) is Minnesota's Medicaid program and is a joint federally/state-funded program which provides necessary medical services for low-income families, children, pregnant women, and people who are elderly (65+) or have disabilities.
MINNESOTACARE - Health care program for people who live in Minnesota and don't have health insurance. It is like other health insurance plans in which you pay a premium.
GENERAL ASSISTANCE MEDICAL CARE (GAMC) - Pays all or part of most medical expenses for persons who do not qualify for MA or do meet the income and resource limits of the MA program.The providers of medical care are paid directly for their services to eligible GAMC recipients. The medical services that may be paid by GAMC vary depending on which GAMC.
PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM (PDP) PDP covers those prescription drugs that are covered by the MA program. To qualify for PDP, you must: Be age 65 and over, Be under age 65 with a disability, Be eligible for a Medicare Premium payment program.
